Hoover Dam has a rich history, explains Kenny Slaught. The project was constructed from 1931 to 1936, in the Great Depression era for a cost of $49 million. First named Boulder Dam, it was renamed to Hoover Dam to honor its main supporter, President Herbert Hoover. The structure measures 379 meters in length, 221 meters in height and has a total capacity of over 35.000 cubic kilometers. It can generate over 4,2 billion kWh 2 in a year.
