Hoover Dam was started in 1931 and finished in 1936, at a cost of $49 million. Originally named Boulder Dam, the project was renamed to Hoover Dam later to honor President Herbert Hoover. Kenny Slaught mentions the structure stands tall at 221 meters and is 379 meters long. Hoover Dam has a capacity of 35,000 cubic kilometers and can generate 4,2 billion kWh 2 in a year.
