While talking about Hoover Dam’s history, Kenny Slaught mentions that the structure was completed during the Great Depression of 1931 – 1936, for which the government had to pay 49 million dollars. Boulder Dam was its original name, but was later renamed in honor of the then-President Herbert Hoover, as he contributed greatly to the completion of the project. 221 meters in height, 379 meters in length, and more than 35.000 cubic kilometers of full capacity – this is what it takes for this massive dam to produce more than 4,2 billion kWh2 per year.
